"When you are diagnosed with a life-limiting illness,
you
r world shatters. I know. It happened to me.
At the age of 46 I was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy - chronic heart disease.
People think of heart disease and see little old ladies in their
70s - not a 50-year-old woman wearing big showy jewellery which hides the scars, make-up and fantastic shoes.
When my doctor suggested I visit Cotswold Care Hospice I told her she was mad. I'm not that ill, I argued. I'm not dying.
I agreed only to go for a reflexology session. Once there, the hospice staff suggested I try counselling. They were right.
I had never admitted I was really ill. My counsellor sees beyond the make-up and the hair - beyond the mask.
At Cotswold Care I don't have to put on a brave face. I can be me.
Every year Cotswold Care Hospice helps more than 500 people like me, all coming to terms with a life-limiting illness.
The charity provides all its services free of charge. It costs £1.6 million every year to run the hospice - 90 per cent is raised by the community.
Please support Cotswold Care Hospice and make sure the care I received today will be there for others who may need it tomorrow."
